About Me
Lee Anderson is the Director of Orchestras at Adams Junior High in Katy, TX. He previously was the Associate Director of Orchestras at Seven Lakes Junior High in Katy. In 2019, he opened up the new orchestra program at Adams with 155 students across 3 performing ensembles and beginner classes and quickly grew it to 180 students the following year. His orchestras are consistently UIL Sweepstakes winners and he co-directed the SLJH Honors Orchestra, which was awarded the National Mark of Excellence in 2017 and performed at the Music for All National Festival in 2019.
As a music educator in the Houston area, he has been active in Region 23 as one of the Junior High Orchestra organizers, regularly acts as a judge for Junior High and High School Region and All-State auditions, and serves as a viola sectional coach.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Anderson keeps an active performing schedule as a professional violist. He performs regularly with the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra and as a member of Divisi Strings, where he plays for weddings and events as part of a string quartet. He has performed around the world in several music festivals, including the Casalmaggiore International Festival in Italy and Le Domaine Forget in Québec, as well as with professional orchestras such as the Louisville Orchestra and Houston Grand Opera.
Mr. Anderson received a Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance, and Master of Music in Viola Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where his principal instructors were Stephen Wyrczynski, Ed Gazouleas, and Brenda Brenner. When not in the orchestra classroom or on the performance stage, he enjoys hiking, running, and spending time with his wife, Aspen, their dog, Max, and their cat, Clara.
